Seven Strategies for Creative Thinking

"You know more than you think you do." --Dr. Benjamin SpockStrategy 1. Embrace Your ProblemsOne of the most fundamental skills of creativity is the ability to recognize an opportunity and seize it. You have countless opportunities to expand your creative thinking skills. Such opportunities present themselves daily at home, while driving to work, during meetings or lunch - or while just hanging out with friends. There's really no shortage of opportunities to refine and develop your creativity. The most basic approach is to recognize that a "problem" may actually be a golden opportunity for a creative explosion - and seize the moment.
Strategy 2. Challenge Your Assumptions It's natural and necessary to make assumptions about the reality of our everyday world. We would otherwise spend all of our waking hours performing unnecessary mental analyses of ordinary things. As a result, many times we see only what we expect to see. Our analysis of a situation or a problem is based entirely on assumptions based on our past experience or "accepted knowledge." Plus assumptions can become so entrenched it doesn't cross our mind to challenge them. This often occurs later in life - when one's assumptions are no longer questioned, although time has passed and things have changed.
A problem may arise simply because we perceive a situation or condition through a set of false assumptions preventing clear thinking. Challenging your assumptions is an important component of creativity. This allows you to look beyond what is obvious or already accepted. And it leads straight to the creative breakthroughs you're looking for.
Truly creative people in all fields of interest tend to automatically challenge both their own assumptions, and the "commonly accepted knowledge" about a problem. This mental attitude is the true source of all of the world's great inventions and businesses. The moment you choose to challenge one of your assumptions as possibly "untrue" or "incomplete," you are on the way to discovering something new and different.
Strategy 3. Take Some Risks
A willingness to take risks is at the very heart of creativity. No creative person succeeds without first failing - as failures are part of the process of testing one's assumptions. There is simply no creativity without "failure."
To experience major creative breakthroughs, it's important to become comfortable taking risks. Each "failure" you encounter will actually supercharge your creativity by generating new information. If you're unwilling to take risks and deal with what ordinary people call "failure," then you cannot expect to become a great creative thinker.
Modern neuroscience has shown that our brains are literally rewired each time we learn something new by "making a mistake." The brain is designed to learn through the trial and error process.
Strategy 4. Use Alternative Thinking
To come up with a creative idea, you will often need a new vantage point. Creating a new solution to an existing problem, for example, may require looking at the problem from a fresh perspective.
There are many tools used by creative thinkers to create such a fresh perspective, including: Brainstorming, MESV creative visualization, and various other means of considering the problem from a fresh vantage point. Such tools can be further explored at Quantum-Self.com.
Additionally, a great way to kickstart your creativity is to look at your problem from the vantage point of another profession. If you are a mechanical engineer, for example, how would an architect view your problem? Or if you are a product designer, how would an interior decorator approach your problem? This approach can lead to some remarkable creative breakthroughs.
Strategy 5. Accept AmbiguityMany people prefer that everything be clear and unambiguous. They are uncomfortable with anything that seems vague, or could have more than one meaning or application. As a result they tend to be rigid, highly predictable thinkers.
A touch of ambiguous thinking during the idea generation stage of the creative process has the power to bring out genius-level ideas. People who can think ambiguously are fluid and flexible thinkers. The ability to think ambiguously can yield amazing creative insights. This is ability is experienced (and built) when you indulge in wordplay or humor.
Strategy 6. Expand Your VisionAn excellent way to build your creative muscles is to read and explore outside your normal area of interest. This can be especially useful when you are struggling to solve a creative problem.
Strategy 7. Massage your Brainwaves
Creative thinking best occurs when your brain is in certain states called "alpha and theta." You are in an "alpha/theta" state when your brain is producing a predominance of slower brainwaves, as opposed to the faster beta brainwaves associated with normal waking consciousness.
Alpha/theta brainwaves are the reason many people have creative ah-ha experiences during a nap, a stroll, or some other mentally-relaxing activity. But consciously entering into an alpha/theta state can be a challenge. Meditators spend years learning to initiate this state on will, but modern technology has introduced a much faster method of building alpha/theta expertise - brainwave training. Be sure to check it out - your creativity will never be the same. Incidentally, a great side benefit of entering into the alpha/theta brainwave state is virtually instant stress reduction!

Angels Live In a State Of Expanded Awareness
~ By Jan Tincher© Jan Tincher - All Rights reservedHttp://www.angelsarewithus.comAngels live in a state of expanded awareness, and if we want to align ourselves with them, then it makes sense to expand OUR awareness. How do you go about that? First, learn what you are *aware* of. There is so much stimulation coming from the outside world that we actually shut ourselves down. We shut ourselves down and only experience what we want to experience. It's a self-preservation method. When you have clogged sinuses are you able to experience eating the way you usually do, when you don't have clogged sinuses? Probably not. You were probably too miserable even to pay attention to what people were saying, so you shut down the sense of hearing, also. Your body shut down in those areas. So, going back to your state of awareness, just imagine the clogging of your sinuses and the need to clear them when you think of communicating with your Angels. In the case of the sinuses, you probably blew your nose. Well, here it's a little different. In order to expand your awareness with the Angels, you need to *learn* to enjoy more. For your sense of hearing, the next time you listen to your favorite music, expand your senses. Listen closer, turn the volume up and lie down on the floor -- hard surface floor if you can -- so that you can feel the vibration of the music, close your eyes and visualize the color you are seeing, feel how the music makes you feel. Some of it may make you laugh out loud, some of it cry, some of it chuckle. For your sense of sight, visualize what a picture is telling you, open yourself up to the sounds, scents, tastes a picture is giving you.For your sense of taste, when you are about to eat your favorite food, close your eyes and take a deep breath. What is the scent telling you? Put it on your tongue. What is the texture telling you? When you eat it, how does it sound? For your sense of smell, inhale deeply and close your eyes. Leave your mouth open. What colors are coming to mind? What sounds are you hearing? If it made a sound what would the sound feel like? For your sense of feeling, rub a piece of nice fabric over your inner wrist, your forehead, the back of your knees. Experiment with other items. Wood, plastic, glass. Imagine if it had a smell, a shape, a color, a taste. What would it be?Spend a week exploring all five of your senses fully. Notice the difference now when you talk to your Angel. When that week is up, think of your Angel. Explore your senses there. What is she saying to you? How would she feel if you touched her? How would you feel inside? What does her voice sound like? What does she look like? What would she smell like? And I know this sounds weird, but what taste comes to mind when you think of her?Guess what? You've just met your Angel. Thanks for reading. The Goldman Method - The Power of Self Mind Control in Shaping Your Reality
How Not To Go From Success to Failure, Riches to Rags
by David CameronThe riches to rags story is as old as the hills. It happens to corporations, countries, communities, families and individuals. One day you are up, the next day down. It may be short term or long term. And we have well established names for these states: broke, poor, bankrupt, and so on.
This story is so common that it has been woven into our economics and legal systems. That is not important. What is important is this: why does it happen, what is the real cause, and how does one not get into it?
We are now going to analyze the steps that people unconsciously take to get from success into failure.
As we do so, you will see how simple they really are, and at first you may be tempted to dismiss this analysis, as it does appear to be very simple. But consider what you read here as a whole and you will see the mechanics better once you take it all in.
All things in our lives arise from our thoughts. It therefore serves us well to observe the thought pattern that leads to failure.
It starts off as an unrecognizable creep unless you are aware of its mechanics, and swells into a mental panic that seems to take over your life. We now have scientific, psychological and spiritual evidence that shows us that we become what we thing about, believingly.
Our thoughts create our next experience, our next moment.
Quantum physicists have proven beyond a doubt that the material world is fully dependent on its observers. They have proven that all matter is made of energy, and this energy 'arranges' itself into the matter we see based on the expectations of the observer.
In other words, it is our intentions, attention and observations that 'collapse' this energy into matter. This is not scientific speculation any more. Nobel Prize winning scientists have proven this without a shred of doubt. All our religions, all of them, tell us that what we believe we become.
If you analyze any time you have ever personally gone down the road to some sort of 'failure' in your finances, relationships or health, you will notice that the road always had a particular chain reaction.
Stop reading now and think of a particular instance when you did go through some sort of 'failure' in the past. Do you have one in mind? Ok, now trace its beginning to its end and you will see that it had the following trend:
Stage One: First, you were OK, before the 'failure' started to happen. You did not even have your attention to the possibility of this failure happening. It may be something that may have popped in your mind before, but you did not particularly have it in your constant attention at all.
Stage Two: Then, something made you start paying attention to the possibility of failure, of a 'bad thing' happening.
For example, assuming it is a marketing failure or a business failure, you may have seen a newspaper article saying something about the economy going into recession, or you may have missed a payment on a bill, or a particular bit of marketing you put out did not return the amount of results you initially 'hoped' for. Not expected, but hoped.
Stage Three: You observed this one instance of 'failure' or 'bad news' and you somehow hooked onto it. Something in your mind said 'Wow, this is bad. I am afraid of it; I hope it doesn't become worse.' Or something to that effect.
At this point, it is still a minor idea in your mind. But notice here what happened.
You saw something out there in the world. You looked at the world asking 'what is your truth'. You looked at the world for evidence of truth.
Think about that for a second.
People are used to looking at the world to get their definition of truth, and whatever they see out there they accept it as truth. Ok, so you looked outside and you saw this small failure. You accepted it as a truth and a possibility that may happen to you.
You took it in. This is where the downhill trip all starts.
Remember, the world becomes from our thoughts, our beliefs. That is why positive thinking works, why faith works, and so on. The external world is a reflection of our internal state. When you change, it changes. We now have solid scientific evidence of this fact.
Stage Four: The world does not know who you are. It only reflects upon who you are.
Failure now starts to pick up speed when you look more and more upon the world asking 'who am I, what is my truth' as you always do unconsciously, and then accept whatever it says.
So now the small failure you observed and accepted as truth sets off some more thoughts of failure possibilities. So you think, "Gee, I hope this next bit of marketing I do doesn't fail." and so on. But what are you doing then? You are declaring internally that you have no control, that you are under the mercy of little things, and you are on the side of failure, hoping to succeed.
So you do the marketing, and because the world reflects you, it most likely doesn't work out as you hoped. You are always telling the world who you are and it is always exactly reflecting that. If you come from a standpoint of failure, it will prove you right, and vice versa.
We are the sum total of our thoughts, and so is each of our worldly experiences.
Stage Five: You observe this new failure and because now there is more failure, you go into panic. You believe it more and think more and more that you will really mess up. And because you think of it so often, with so much worry, the failures in your world happen more and more. And you look upon them and accept them more and more.
This chain reaction goes until your mind is out of control, in a panic and you feel as if you are in a daydream, a web of thoughts and emotions all tangled up. But do you see how you got there, and how easy it is to get out?
The world does not know who you are; it only manifests what you are. Do you see this little vicious cycle? You are the cause, and therefore you are the evidence. But when you believe you are not, you look upon the effect and let it determine your cause. And because it came from your cause, it will mirror what you feared was true, and you will think it is true, so you will cause even more harm unknowingly, and the cycle continues.
This is what will free you: do the opposite.
Instead of accepting the 'failure' you see in front of you as truth, simply choose not to accept it. Remember, it is only there because you brought it there at some level. You may not have been conscious and aware that you were doing it. It cannot be without you empowering it to be. It is now merely asking you, "what next, boss?" And whatever you say, it will do. Yet you ask it what the truth is, and accept its answer as truth. Its answer is the answer that you have given to it.
By your acceptance and reaction to it, you empower it even more. And as you react, it moves to match your reaction. And because it moves and you observe the change as having matched what you feared, you accept the change as truth and just for you. Simply stop this.
You are the truth of your world. You never have to accept external truths. You have a choice. Now that you know that our world patterns itself on our thoughts and beliefs, you can take back the power you gave away to your fears.
At first it may be hard to change the way you think, from a partly conscious way to a fully conscious and directed way, ignoring any 'truth and evidence' offered to you by the physical world. But know it works and you can do it, and with practice it will soon become normal to you and everything will flow.
Haven't you ever noticed how the most successful people today all did what everybody said was 'impossible'? They stood against the 'evidence' and declared their own truth, and the universe moved with them. It cannot fail to move.
If you are in a tight spot, remember that this spot is not the truth - it is just a reflection of what you hold to be true in your mind and heart.
Free your mind and heart, holding them free no matter what, and your external will miraculously change. Cause and effect are instantaneous, time only coming between them to the extent of your clarity and certainty.

Get the Power Flowing!
by Cara Yowell

http://www.plugintopower.com
Every human being is born equipped with the physical and mental means to contact and use the Life Force.
Think about it. You have a complex nervous system, complete with brain and spinal cord, designed to be an electric-like conductor for the body.
Ever heard of the solar plexus? It's a real group of nerves at the back of your body behind the stomach. Check out Gray's Anatomy...you'll find it. Did you know that the solar plexus is even called the abdominal brain?
According to the Ancients, this is where the Life Force is stored in your body. When you run out of Life Energy in the storehouse or solar plexus, you feel like you've ran out of steam.
So what' s the problem?
We' ve forgotten how to naturally connect to the Life Force that is all around us. It's like we have access to the power, we' ve paid our "power bill", put the plug in the socket but forgot to turn on the switch!!
Turning on your "power switch" allows you to become conscious of the Life Force Energy flowing within you. Awareness is they key.
Is it a wonder why many are plagued with chronic fatigue and depression?
This method I'm about to share with you was instrumental in alleviating medication resistant depression for me. I had almost non-existent energy. Getting out of bed was a major accomplishment!
I tried anti-depressants, thyroid medications, supplements, exercising, diets, positive thinking, affirmations ad nauseum, therapy. I'm not saying what I am about to share with you is a substitute for going to a medical professional. My experience was nothing worked for me...
Until I stumbled upon this method.
Try this exercise to refuel your Life Force Storage Tank:
1. Stand with your feet apart.
2. Hold your left palm up and your right palm down.
3. Be conscious of inhaling Life Force and exhaling Life Force.
4. You can hold arms out to the side if you wish, but make sure to bring your arms down towards your side if your arms get heavy. You can always raise them back up.
5. In your mind repeat occasionally: "I am one with the Life Force Energy. It is flowing through me. I can feel it now."
6. See if you can sense the subtle current of energy.
This exercise's benefits are cumulative. You can perform it at anytime, but for best results, perform morning and evening. Use it when you need a boost! If people are around, just say it mentally.
My favorite inconspicuous way of performing the exercise is to put my hands behind my back with palms up.
Just make sure no part of your body is crossed to promote optimum energy flow. Stay relaxed. This is easy stuff.
I would love to hear your experiences with using this exercise. Send them to me at experiences@plugintopower.com
